What to prepare before painting your walls

Start with a room list, photos and how you will use the home during the work. This checklist helps prepare an enquiry for wall painting in an occupied or empty apartment. You do not need to know every detail before contacting us.

Send the painting details

Opens WhatsApp. You send the message and photos yourself.

Occupied and empty homes need different plans

Decide which rooms are involved and what must remain usable. That information helps clarify the sequence before you move furniture or buy materials.

  • In an occupied home, mention bedrooms, a workspace or other areas you still need, as well as pets or belongings requiring special care.
  • In an empty home, tell us when access and keys are available, whether deliveries are expected and your preferred completion window.

Where we work

We serve the cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Lucerne, Obwalden, Nidwalden, Zug, Zurich and Ticino. We will confirm availability at your address and the travel charge.

Prepare one room list

Use information you already have. Unknown details can be clarified; do not remove wall coverings just to answer the checklist.

Rooms and measurements

Name each room and the walls to be painted. If available, send a plan or approximate wall lengths and height, with doors and windows noted. Floor area and painted wall area are different: say which measurement you are providing.

Wide views and details

Send an overall view of each room and the relevant walls. Add close-ups of marks, cracks, peeling paint or wallpaper edges. Mention anything behind furniture that you cannot see; a photo does not establish the condition of every surface.

Furniture and protection

List large furniture, shelves, curtains and items near the walls. Agree who moves or dismantles them, clears small belongings and provides protection. If an item cannot be moved, say so before the quote; do not move heavy furniture just to obtain photos.

Colour and paint

Describe the current colour and desired result. Send the exact paint name or product link if chosen, including the finish. Say whether you already have paint or want procurement included. Product and quantity are clarified before purchasing; there is no universal amount for every room.

Access and other work

Include the address area, stairs or lift, key arrangements and any parallel work. Mention rooms that must stay accessible and a fixed deadline if you have one. The sequence and usable-room timing depend on the actual work, product and conditions.

Show problems before agreeing ordinary painting

Describe known moisture marks, damaged areas or loose coverings. Painting does not automatically include investigating or repairing their cause. We clarify the surface and whether separate work is needed before accepting the scope. This checklist covers preparation for wall painting.

Turn the checklist into an agreed plan

Send the existing information

Send the room list, measurements if known and photos. Separate what you know from what still needs checking.

Decide the practical arrangements

We clarify wall preparation, colour and product, protection, furniture handling and access. In an occupied home, we also discuss which rooms need to remain usable.

Agree the scope, cost and date

We agree the included work, materials, travel and project quote before booking. If additional work would increase the cost, we explain it and agree the next step before doing it.

A quote for the actual rooms

  • Complex painting projects receive an individual quote. The wall condition, preparation, chosen finish, furniture handling and sequence matter; floor area alone is not a price calculation.
  • Materials, additional services and travel are clarified in the quote. If an on-site assessment is needed, it is charged at the published rates; we agree its cost before arranging the visit.

We currently do not charge VAT.

Questions before you prepare the rooms

Do I need exact square metres?

No. Send approximate dimensions or a plan if you have them, and state whether they describe floor area or wall area. We clarify the actual painting scope before quoting.

Should I clear all the furniture first?

Agree that first. Tell us what is in the room and what you can safely clear yourself. Moving, dismantling and protecting items are part of the arrangements to confirm, not automatically included.

Can we stay at home during the work?

Describe the rooms you need and any access restrictions. Whether work can be divided into stages is assessed with the actual scope; a workable occupied-home schedule is not assumed from photos alone.

Should I buy paint before requesting a quote?

Send the intended product first if you have one. Suitability, finish, quantity and procurement responsibilities need to be clarified before an order; you can also enquire before choosing a product.

When can we use a painted room again?

There is no fixed time for every project. The chosen product, preparation and room conditions affect the plan. We discuss the relevant product guidance and room-use sequence before agreeing a date.

Send your painting checklist

Send what you know; we will clarify the rest.

  • Town or postcode and preferred timing; identify any fixed deadline.
  • Room list and the walls involved; plan or approximate measurements if available.
  • Photos of the rooms, wall surfaces and visible problem areas.
  • Current wall covering, current colour and desired colour or finish.
  • Paint product link or name, if chosen; whether materials are already available.
  • Occupied or empty home; rooms that need to remain usable.
  • Furniture, access and who you expect to move items or arrange protection.
  • Other work planned for the same rooms.
